Why this trend?
Because the complexity is increasing rapidly. This rapid increase is no longer manageable with pre-industrial and industrial decision-making processes. Digitization causes multidimensional dependencies. No company can ignore the increasing interconnectedness of systems and systemic relationships any longer.
Risks increase, predictability decreases.
In the multidimensional event space of the 21st century, linear power-based decision-making therefore leads to costly errors.
Old-school top down has reached its sell-by date.
This is not the end of the hierarchy. It's just the end of the pecking order based on opinion and power. And the beginning of competency-based hierarchy.
Augmented Leadership implements decision-making based on competence and introduces consistent competence mapping in order to be able to master the systemic requirements of the present with the expected future escalation levels.
Because what we are currently experiencing as a digital revolution is only the beginning of even greater complexity.
Very simple: A single brain, no matter how smart, wise, mathematical, musical, artistic, entrepreneurial, inventive, social and equipped with common sense it may appear - this single brain can no longer process the wealth of incoming data alone1 and make sustainable, meaningful decisions from it extract.
Only an intelligent crush can do that.
Augmented leadership serves the crush. Consistent and tireless. Regents and dictators, no matter how flattering and nice they want to hold on to their sinecures - if they don't become augmented leaders they will perish and their ventures with them.
